Out-of-School Children Training
Non-formal learning centres that bring children who have never been to school — or who dropped out — back into education.
Pakistan has one of the highest out-of-school populations in the world, and rural Sindh carries a heavy share of it. Poverty, distance, child labour and the 2022 floods pushed thousands of children out of the classroom.
ACD's non-formal education work sets up community-based learning centres that give these children an accelerated route to literacy, numeracy and re-enrolment in a government school.
What this programme covers
Community learning centres
Small, village-level classes held close to home so young children and girls can attend safely.
Accelerated curriculum
Condensed literacy and numeracy so older children can catch up to their age-appropriate grade.
Mainstreaming
Transitioning learners into nearby government primary schools once they are ready.
Parent mobilisation
Door-to-door enrolment drives and sessions with parents on the value of schooling.
